Each week, I find myself thinking about when I was this many weeks pregnant. At 19 weeks pregnant, I was desperately waiting to feel Jacob kick. Now, he rolls, reaches and grabs. He has also been doing this cute stretch. He is arching his back sooo much and all the time. It reminds me of someone doing a swan dive. He does it now for his morning stretch, when he's in opposition of something and when he's excited. I think it's his favorite. He has also been reaching for his toes. He isn't quite there yet but definitely is on his way. Okay, back to the topic at hand . . . The week of Firsts!

Our Compromise |
Sayonara co-sleeper and hello crib. Jacob spent his first night in his crib! He actually made the decision to transition himself because that boy hardly fit in the co-sleeper anymore. When I put him in the co-sleeper for his naps, I would come back to him in it all squished to one side. To be completely honest, I wasn't quite ready for the switch though so Jesse and I made a compromise. He can sleep in the crib
if and only if the crib is in our room. LOL I was under the impression that moving the crib from Jacob's room to our room would be a piece of cake. Boy was I wrong. So after taking the door off of it's hinges and taking the entire crib apart, Jesse was able to bring it into our room and put it together. Next came the rearranging of our bedroom furniture so that Jacob's crib was in the safest place. After that, about an hour and a half later, all was good. The first night he slept in the crib was rough. He and I were both up multiple times during the night. I felt like just having him sleep in bed with us but I don't want to open up that can of worms. After that, so far, so good. He looks so tiny in that big space. I miss being able to reach over and touch him whenever I want without getting out of my warm spot in the bed. : (

At the 4 minute mark. |
For some reason and always during meal time without fail, Jacob is always fussy and wants to be held. We say that he just wants to be in the mix of it all and included in the conversation. We received a highchair for Jacob at his baby shower in April and decided it was time to break it out. Jesse opened the box which had a million and one pieces in it and what seemed like 500 steps in the instructions. Everything was going great . . . we were working as a team putting that thing together. I kept mentioning to Jesse that the high chair looked a little short and that I was worried that it would be too low for our table. So, while Jesse is on step 498 (which is to tighten all the screws), I'm working on step 499. I notice that for my step (putting seat cover on) the pictures did not match. Hmmm. I tell J to look at it and he notices that the model number on the front of the box is different than the model number on the instructions and the back of the box. *face palm* I call the store and they inform me that the model I wanted is no longer available. We bring in the assembled high chair and just decide to get a space saver one so Jacob can be exactly at our level. He kinda liked it for about 5 minutes. We are slowly trying to build up the amount of time that he'll stay in it without grunting and stretching to try to make his escape.
Jacob celebrated his first Halloween! We were supposed to go to uncle m and aunt d's Halloween party the Saturday before but Jake wasn't feeling too good. We also missed the costume parade at mommy group. Dang. We definitely were not going to miss trick or treating though. He got all dressed up in his bumblebee costume and went t-o-ting around the neighborhood I grew up in. He only went to three houses because the mosquitoes were crazy. Daddy said he felt funny taking him to the houses to get candy because Jake can't eat them yet. Oh well, we enjoyed his two pieces of candy. Thanks Jake! After coming back to my moms house, we passed out candy to all the other kiddos. I was talking to Jesse about how next year Jake will be able to walk up to the houses himself. : )
